THE BITCHES BOX & MEL PARSONS : THE TOUR

The Bitches Box & Mel Parsons Tour was born out of a dream and desire to provide rural audiences a chance to have a truly unique night out with their neighbours. Drawing on the close network of farming communities, actresses Amelia Guild and Emma Newborn are joined by acclaimed singer/songwriter Mel Parsons to bring theatre, music and comedy to the heart of the country.

February 2012 saw the Tour take over the South Island, with 22 performances that got the whole rural community talking. The overwhelming success saw shows selling out weeks in advance as word spread like wildfire down the country.

Now it is the North Island’s turn! Starting on 17th October, the girls will take in 20 North Island woolsheds and give local farming people the chance to share a night of quality entertainment normally only seen in the city centre’s.

With a voice that “could work any night in Nashville, yet somehow sounds intrinsically New Zealand” Mel Parsons, one of our rising songwriting stars, starts the evening off. Fresh off the back of well recieved Australian dates, Mel is well known for drawing on the folk tradition of telling stories, and blending it with pop hooks and a unique sensibility to melody and harmony.

Audiences are then invited to join Amelia and Emma as they present a hilarious story of life on the farm. Watch as they throw the spotlight on our closest working mates and give voice to the inner workings of our four legged friends. Guaranteed to raise a smile, The Bitches Box promises to be a heartry romp around the kennels you thought you knew so well.

Enjoy the hospitality of our host farm, have a drink or two at the cash bar, and support the local school or organisation who will be having a fundraising barbeque dinner on the night.

“What a fantastic evening. A great drive out into the country, then Mel sets the show up beautifully with her fine voice and strong guitar playing. The Bitches’ Box is hilarious, every dog believable and topped by the most extraordinary performance of an old slobbering hound. No matter how far the drive, it’s worth it.”  - Andrew Holden, THE PRESS Editor

    Hi there,
Just wondering when you will be performing at Hanmer Springs and Amberley. I’m a freelance writer, based in North Canterbury, and may be able to get you some local coverage. Looks like a fantastic tour!

To the Team of the Bitches Box.
I attended the night at Takamatua and it was a blast. Very very funny stuff. It was great to laugh so much and the atomsphere was great. Lovely hamburgers from the school and yummy sweets at half time. Thanks again for a real neat evening. Congrads, you are all very talented.
